- Define critical thinking.
- Identify four barriers to critical thinking skills.
- List three tools that can be used to assess student critical thinking and barriers to critical thinking.
- State four strategies to develop students’ critical thinking skills.
Critical thinking is regarded as the most desired skill of graduates. It is needed in almost every aspect of pharmacy practice. Despite this importance, faculty and preceptors can remain frustrated with students’ critical thinking efforts. This session outlines the four steps that programs can use to promote more consistent, intentional, and structured teaching of critical thinking to students across a curriculum.
